PORVORIM
A linesman attached to the Porvorim substation was injured after he came in contact with live wires and fell off a pole at Oval Park in Porvorim on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, the incident took place as the linesman, identified as Uday Kashalkar, was busy along with other linesmen in Porvorim by working overtime to repair the damaged cables and disrupted power supply following the cyclone on Sunday.
On Monday, the electricity staff restored the power supply to some residential buildings in the area. Work had resumed on Tuesday evening and Kashalkar was atop a pole to connect wires when he came in contact with live lines and fell off the pole.
Social worker Anurag Gupta, who was at the site, rushed the injured linesmen in an ambulance to the GMC hospital at Bambolim, where his condition is reported to be stable.
The electricity department staff have come in for widespread praise for working round the clock and under adverse climate and precarious conditions to restore power supply in the State.
