Linesman killed in Nagzar road mishap

A 50-year-old linesman from Warkhand was killed in a road mishap after being struck by a truck at Nagzar late Friday evening.

Vitthal Yashwant Harijan had parked his scooter by the roadside and had gone to make some purchases from a shop. As he was returning to his scooter, he was knocked down by a speeding truck. Harijan was killed on the spot and the truck fled after the accident.

Mopa police took the body into custody and sent it to GMC hospital for an autopsy, before handing it over to the relatives. The final rites were conducted on Saturday evening. Pernem police is conducting further investigation.
