PORVORIM
President of 21st Yuva Konkani Sahitya Sammelan Naman Sawant Dhavaskar has described literature as fundamentally an expression of one’s thoughts through the medium of language.
“Literature, which can be in any form, prose or poetry, can be a vital record of what human beings undergo and imbibe what they feel. These life experiences are normally woven into literature,” said Dhavaskar.
“Noted Konkani writers like late B B Borkar and Manohar Sardessai have played a very important role in popularising Konkani literature among Goans,” said Dhavaskar, adding that acquisition of knowledge is of utmost importance for writers.
He was speaking at Porvorim after inauguration of 21st Yuva Konkani Sahitya Sammelan (YKSS) organised by Goa Konknni Academy in association with Vidya Prabhodini college.
Among those present on the occasion included President of Prabhodan Education Society Sanjay Walwalkar, Principal of Prabhodini college Dr Bhushan Bhave, President of Goa Konknni Academy (GKA) Arun Sakhardande, Deepak Karanjikar, Darshan Kandolkar, Darshana Mandrekar and Dr Hanumant Chopdekar.

“Some people believe that writing is a talent. Instead, it's a skill. To become an author, there is no formal educational requirement, but what is required is experience and desire of expressions.”
“One cannot become a writer immediately. Becoming an author mainly requires that you have a strong set of skills, like the ability to read and write well and observe carefully what is happening in society,” said Sakhardande.
Dr Bhushan Bhave said the purpose of organising the Yuva Konkani Sammelan was to inculcate love about Konkani literature among youth and to promote Konkani literature.
