The Communidade Boa Esperanca de Aldona has decided to challenge before the Tribunal seven approvals granted by the Administrator of the Communidade, North Zone, under the Mhaje Ghar scheme without the consent of the communidade’s general body.
The decision was taken at the communidade’s general body meeting on Sunday, where Gaunkars unanimously resolved to challenge the approvals. They also refused to clear around 30 other applications seeking NOCs under the scheme.
Presided over by Communidade President Melwyn Fernandes, the meeting saw Gaunkars maintain that no further applications under the Mhaje Ghar scheme should be approved by the communidade while the matter remains sub judice before the Tribunal.
The seven approvals granted by the Administrator came under scrutiny, with Gaunkars questioning how the files were cleared without the comunidade’s consent.
The general body subsequently resolved to approach the Tribunal to challenge the approvals.
Fernandes said the communidade had received around 30 applications seeking NOCs under the Mhaje Ghar scheme. However, the general body decided not to process any of them, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.
“We have received around 30 files under the Mhaje Ghar scheme, but the Gaunkars have unanimously resolved not to approve any of them as the matter is sub judice,” Fernandes said.
He said the communidade would also challenge the seven approvals issued by the Administrator.
“These seven files were approved by the Administrator without taking the consent of the communidade. Hence, we have resolved to file an appeal before the Tribunal challenging the approvals,” Fernandes said.
The Gaunkars maintained that the communidade should not process or clear applications linked to the Mhaje Ghar scheme until the legal dispute is settled.
The general body also approved the communidade’s annual budget for 2026-27.
