Even as six days have passed since the Exposition at Old Goa, the hotmixing of the Pilar to Old Goa road is not completed.
There were expectations from the people, particularly the pilgrims, that the road would be hotmixed before the Exposition.
However, the road has been totally hotmixed from Old Goa to Carambolim.
But thereafter, from Azossim to Pilar, the road has been hotmixed only on one side which has drawn criticism from various quarters.
Former Mandur sarpanch Ajit Bacal questioned the logic behind hotmixing only one side of the road when hundreds of vehicles are plying along the road, particularly those participating in the Novena and the Exposition.
“Due to only one side getting hotmixed, the road has become uneven in the middle and it poses huge risk for the two-wheeler riders,” Bacal informed and demanded that both sides of the road from Azossim to Pilar should be hotmixed.
Azossim-Mandur Sarpanch Prashant Naik slammed the PWD authorities for leaving the Azossim-Pilar stretch of the road partially hotmixed.
“This is causing great inconvenience to the motorists, particularly the two-wheeler riders who face the danger of their bikes skidding due to uneven surface,” Naik stated and demanded that both sides of the road should be hotmixed.
“The locals have suffered enough as last time when one side of the road was dug for laying power cables, only that side of the road was asphalted and that time too the road was uneven in the middle just like now,” Naik said.
