The Special Investigation Team (SIT) (Land Grab) has re-arrested accused Siddiqui alias Suleman Khan in connection with another land fraud case, just 12 days after his earlier arrest on November 14 in a property fraud case registered at the Mapusa Police Station.
The 54-year-old’s latest arrest pertains to a land-grabbing case registered at Valpoi police station.
As per the case details, shared by SIT SP Rahul Gupta, the case was registered on December 27, 2021, under Sections 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (using fraudulent document as genuine) read with 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
The complaint was filed by Rafael Luis Jose Lobo from Mapusa, alleging that prior to June 30, 2021, accused Gopal Salgaonkar, Kalpana Salgaonkar, Pankaj Chodankar, Pooja Chodankar and Siddiqui forged documents with the intent to grab his ancestral properties illegally.
These properties are located at Goalim-Moula in Tiswadi and bear Survey Nos 36/0 (1,09,500 sqm), 37/0 (38,325 sqm), and 38/1 (68,250 sqm), known as “Kot-Pot.” The complainant had alleged that fake sale deeds were allegedly prepared, signatures forged and the documents were later falsely shown as executed before the Sub-Registrar of Valpoi.
Siddiqui was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Valpoi, which granted four days of police remand for further investigation.
The SIT dubbed Siddiqui as a ‘hardened criminal’ after his previous arrest in Hubli wherein he was charged with forging documents to grab land and evade arrest for five years. His arrest followed a three-month-long investigation by the SIT, which tracked his movements.
The probe further revealed that Khan frequently changed his appearance, vehicle, mobile phone, SIM cards and locations to evade arrest.
