Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday urged Goans not to fall prey to people who are misleading and trying to politicise issues to gain political mileage.
Parrikar also assured that all assurances made in BJP's manifesto will be fulfilled by the party.
He was speaking at a public meeting convened by BJP to mobilise people and to review developmental works and governance by the BJP government.
Speaking further, Parrikar said over 80 per cent of the assurances mentioned in the manifesto have been fulfilled, and the BJP government has focussed on improving the agricultural sector, infrastructure development, education sector, enhancing the skills of the youth, and providing opportunities in various fields.
Taking a dig at the opposition for opposing various projects like DefExpo, etc, Parrikar said: “Why some people are always against developmental projects of the government, and why don't these few people go to National Green Tribunal (NGT) and fight for Mhadei river issue?”
Speaking on DefExpo, Parrikar said during his recent visit to the nearby village temple of Shri Devi Shantadurga, locals congratulated him for organising DefExpo at Naqueri-Quitol.
“The locals also told me that it has benefitted them economically. And they showed willingness to organise such exhibitions again,” Parrikar added.
In his address, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said various developmental projects in Curchorem constituency like community health centre, expansion of Ravindra Bhavan, municipality complex building, KTC bus stand, development of Curchorem-Sanvordem railway station, etc, which were initiated by the BJP government, are in progress.
He also reiterated that various welfare schemes have been provided to women, girls, students, farmers, senior citizens by the State government, which were not offered by other governments.
He further said in the upcoming assembly election, BJP's target is to secure at least 26 seats.
Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, South Goa MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar, Assolda Sarpanch Dayanand Naik, Assolda panchas, BJP Goa Pradesh president Vinay Tendulkar, Vishwas Sawant Dessai, CCMC chairperson and councillors and other BJP supporters were present.
