As many as 11,64,522 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the assembly elections on February 14.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kunal on Monday told reporters that the total voters registered in the State comprise about 5,66,531 male voters and 5,97,982 female voters. There are 78 overseas voters, 9 transgender voters and 41 sex worker voters.
He informed reporters that the Election Commission (EC) has identified 9,590 persons with disabilities (PwD) and 2,997 voters above 80 years of age, who have opted to vote from home.
Special arrangements of voting have been made for 13,284 such voters, of which 5,938 are in North Goa and 7,346 are in South Goa.
Kunal said EC designated teams would visit the homes of these persons to collect their secret ballots.
Besides, 41 sex workers and 9 transgender voters have been registered at these elections, he said.
He added that 298 government servants will exercise their franchise through postal ballots.
Kunal stated that the EC has made various arrangements at 1,722 polling booths.
“While 188 polling booths have been provided with portable toilets, temporary ramps have been set up at 250 booths, temporary water supply has been provided at 48 booths and temporary electricity connections have been set up at 5 primary schools,” he said.
“With an average number of 676 voters per booth, voting is expected to be smooth and will adhere to all safety norms,” said Kunal.
