PANAJI

Mortality continued to haunt Goa's fight against Covid-19 as eleven more people succumbed in the last 24-hours taking the State's cumulative death toll to 3,693.

The daily case count however declined sharply again with 500 new cases reported. The positivity rate also dropped by 10 percentage points to 18.80 %.

Health officials are beginning to believe that the third wave has peaked in Goa but are reluctant to officially say so.

Meanwhile, as many as 171 lives were lost to Covid in January.

Statistics provided by the DHS also pegged the cumulative infections in January at 58,045.

January 19 was the peak of the third wave graph when 3936 new cases were reported on that single day.
