Loliem-Polem Comunidade approves 6 major projects

Sainik school, cricket stadium, solar plant among projects cleared at Extraordinary General Body Meeting

CANACONA

The Comunidade of Loliem-Polem has approved six important resolutions to allow its land in the village to be used for a Sainik School, a cricket stadium, a solar power plant, GTDC wayside tourist facilities, its own office and commercial complex, and to agree on a joint survey of eight plots given to an agro-based company. This was decided during an Extraordinary General Body Meeting on Sunday.

The meeting took place at the Shri Keshav Devalaya Sabhamandap in Loliem, with 38 out of 39 members supporting the resolutions. “These six resolutions will shape the future of land use in Loliem-Polem and bring benefits to the local community and Goa,” said Comunidade President Vishwajeet Warik in a press note.

The approved projects include a Sainik School by Vadenagar Shikshan Sevastopol Mandal for the youth of Goa, a cricket ground and stadium with the Goa Cricket Association, a 100-150 MW solar power plant to supply electricity to the entire Canacona taluka, GTDC’s wayside amenities for tourists, an office complex for the Comunidade, and a joint survey of plots given to Mallikarjun Multifruits Processing Producer Company Ltd to promote local industry and jobs.

Regarding the lone member who opposed, Warik said he is a regular critic with vested interests and that the community’s collective decision overruled his objections.
