Continuing with the drive against loud music, the Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Bardez, Kapil Phadte has issued show cause notices to another nine nightclubs and shacks along the coastal belt of Candolim, Calangute and Anjuna.
The action was a cumulative result of complaints received from several residents against loud music being played beyond permissible limits late in the nights.
While Anjuna continued to dominate with complaints against loud music with five clubs/shacks in the area issued the notices, three clubs in Candolim and one in Calangute were also directed to show cause for loud noise.
The deputy collector in the show cause notice has asked the establishments why action should not be initiated against them for violation of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000.
The following clubs were issued the notices: Larive shack at Ozrant, Anjuna, Pinakkin Beach Café, Vagator, Mahe A Coastal Cuisine Bar & Restaurant, Anjuna, Chronicle Restaurant, Ozrant Anjuna, Larive Beach Shack Vagator Anjuna, Barracks Candolim in Candolim, Barrel Yan Tree Candolim, Club Bliss Goa, Candolim and Rock Forest Guest House in Calangute.
It may be recalled in a similar action the deputy collector had issued show cause notices to 20 clubs, restaurants and shacks along the coastal Anjuna around a week back.
The action was a result of a complaint by a resident of Assagao, Desmond Alvares who wrote to the deputy collector and other authorities against the noise pollution created by the night clubs by playing music beyond permissible limits.
Later the deputy collector had also held a meeting with the locals to get a feedback against the ongoing problem of noise pollution.
