Loutolim passes annual budget

A week after the gram sabha could not approve the annual budget for want of quorum, the Loutolim gram sabha gave its stamp of approval for the budget estimates at the gram sabha held on Sunday.
However, the meeting which was believed to have been held with less than 25 members ended moments after the gram sabha approved the budget estimates. Sources in the know said that the meeting ended since there were no other proposals put forth by the gram sabha members.
Last time around, the gram sabha could not pass the annual budget since there was no quorum, forcing the chair to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was held on Sunday since questions were raised how the panchayat would pay the staff salaries without the gram sabha nod for the annual budget estimates for the new financial year.
