OLD GOA
Four workers asleep inside a shed at a construction site had lucky escape when a truck rammed in the nearby room of the shed at Corlim in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to one of the locals, the truck driver apparently lost control after the steering wheel jammed and rammed into one room of the shed.
The truck was proceeding from Ponda towards Panaji when the truck veered from its lane towards the other lane before ramming into the empty room of the shed.
"Luckily, there was nobody asleep in the room and four workers were sleeping in the adjacent room," the local informed, while adding that had the lorry rammed into the room where the workers slept then it would have been a big tragedy.
The local further informed that he called the police control room as the Old Goa police station number was not reachable.
The Old Goa police arrived at the site, conducted the panchanama and also sent the driver for medical examination to determine whether he was driving under influence. The police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
