Preliminary investigations by the Goa police has revealed that the Rumdamol housing board murder was a revenge killing, with one of the arrested persons happens to be the brother of the deceased murdered in Davorlim in 2020.
The Maina Curtorim police led by PI Arun Desai is also trying to find out whether there were any accomplices of the two arrested accused who helped the duo execute the murder.
Both the accused are in their 20’s, including Tousif Kademani, age 20 years, resident of Bhagwati, Davorlim, and a native of Saunnur-Karnataka and Kadar Khan Khanzade age 28 years, resident of Davorlim.
Placed under arrest by police after bringing the accused to Goa from Karnataka, the duo has been remanded to nine days police custody for the purpose of further investigations.
Sub-divisional Police officer, DySP Santosh Desai said one of the accused happens the brother of the deceased who was murdered at Davorlim in 2020 by two accused, including Sadiq Bellari, who was murdered on Friday in the Housing Board.
Addressing the media along with Maina Curtorim Police station in-charge, PI Arun Desai, DySP Santosh informed that with the arrest of accused Tousif Kademani and Kadar s/o Faiyaz Khan, the Maina Curtorim PS team cracked the murder case of Sadique Bellary within 24 hours.
“Deceased Sadique Bellary, age-22 years, who was residing near the last Bus Stop, Rumdamol, Davorlim, was assaulted with a sharp weapon on his neck and shoulder region at his residence due to which, he succumbed to his injuries. Accordingly, a murder case was registered by Maina Curtorim Police Station” he said.
During the course of investigation, DySP Santosh informed that the police received an input from sources that two suspects namely Tousif Kademani and Kadar s/o Faivaz Khan might have committed the murder of Sadique Bellary and both have fled the state after committing the offense.
“We deployed technical surveillance as well as local intelligence to know the whereabouts of both the suspected accused. After we received information that the duo have headed to Karnataka by bus, our team was sent to the neighbouring state before the suspects were detained at Bankapur-Karnataka”, he added.
Saying that the duo have allegedly confessed of committing the murder of Sadique Bellary, DySP Santosh said further investigations will unearth the plot hatched by the duo to murder the deceased.
He said the police is verifying information that the duo had been staying close to the residence of the deceased for the last one month.
