Wow! Goa Day celebrations in London and Manchester. That must have been wonderful, judging from the pictures and the news reports - entertainment, singing, dancing till they dropped dead, so to say. Surely, it must have been a very proud moment for Goans settled in the West.
According to the news reports, several Goan artists presented their skills and it gave people the opportunity to experience the best of Goan heritage. The news reports also speak of a vibrant Goan community in the West. Yes, Goa had a rich heritage, certainly. I’m sure, their hearts beat for Goa.
Today, Goa seems to be in distress, life is disturbed, the peace seems elusive. It’s time those settled abroad, give a thought to their homeland. What is the point in keeping alive Goan traditions and culture in other countries when these traditions and culture are dying in their native Goa. How about building up a vibrant community in Goa?
