Lucky escape for cops as car rams into corner of police stn

MARGAO
A driver of an ill-fated car and the personnel of the Colva police station had a miraculous escape in the wee hours of Monday when a car rammed against the corner portion of the police station building before turning turtle.

While the driver is convalescing at the Goa Medical College and hospital with fractures, the Colva police station in charge, PI Tukaram Chawan, said a PSI and four constables were all in the barracks when the incident occurred at 1.15 am on Monday. The damaged car lying in front of the Colva police station bears testimony to the impact of the accident.

PI Chawan informed that the 26-year-old driver escaped with fractures and is out of danger.

He said the accident would have ended up in tragedy had the ill-fated car hit the portion of the police station building housing the barracks.

“A PSI and four constables were taking rest in the barracks when the car rammed against the corner of the building before turning turtle,” he said. He said the accident might have occurred when the driver lost balance when the vehicle reached near the Colva police station from the Benaulim side.
