Luizinho Faleiro, who recently quit the Congress to join the Trinamool Congress, has been appointed the national vice-president of the party led by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who is Mamata's nephew, in a press release on Friday said: "The chairperson of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) Mamata Banerjee takes great pride in appointing Luizinho Faleiro as the national vice president of the party with immediate effect."
Faleiro had quit the Congress party, with which he was associated since 1980 and also as an MLA to join the TMC last month.
Meanwhile, the West Bengal Chief Minister is expected to visit Goa this month-end to give her party's campaign a fillip for the 2022 Goa Assembly elections.
