He also said the government was against the poor people, as Goa was one of the most taxed States in the country.
“BJP-led administration is a pick pocket government. They offer Griha Adhaar scheme and simultaneously increase electricity and water bills. They imposed entry tax which has in turn increased rates of essential commodities,” GPCC, President, Faleiro said.
The GPCC president was addressing more than 1,500 Congress workers and supporters at a public meeting at Nachinola as the party’s ‘Jan Jagruti Padyatra ‘ wound its way through Mapusa on the way to Aldona constituency. The padyatra will next move to Tivim on its onward journey.

The five ticket aspirants for Aldona “ Freddy Fernandes, Sandesh Narvekar, Mahesh Satelkar, Trajano D’Mello and Amarnath Panjikar “ were also present along with their supporters.
Speaking further, Faleiro said Goa which was galloping forward was now moving backwards.
“Goa has turned out to be one of the most costly destinations in India. It is one of the most taxed States in the country,” he said.
He further said the BJP-led government went back on each and every promise it made in the last elections.
“They promised unemployment dole and to resolve MoI issue. They promised to bring a new regional plan and to shut casinos. Rise in drugs trade and prostitution, the list of unfulfilled promises are galore,” he said.
The GPCC chief said the IT department had every right to send notices but the modus operandi to send the notices to the churches was objectionable.
“Where the church running away with the cash to Swiss,” he questioned.
He said demonetisation was done to save banks from going bankrupt and to save BJP’s crony capitalists friends.
Opposition leader and former chief minister, Pratapsingh Rane cautioned the gathering that
BJP will promise the moon, but to remain alert.
Slamming the demonetisation move, he said which government puts a limit for withdrawal of one’s own money.
“The BJP should come out with the disclosure of how much assets each of its MLAs had before they got elected and what is their assets now,” he said.
