Lyndon & team take a vow; pay tributes at Lohia Maidan

MARGAO
Newly-elected chairperson Lyndon Pereira along with his deputy Deepali Sawal and the ruling councillors visited the historic Lohia Maidan along with MLAs Digambar Kamat and Vijai Sardesai to pay respects to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia.

After paying respects to Dr Lohia, Digambar promised the people present there that the council will provide good, transparent and corruption-free administration to the citizens of Margao and Fatorda.

Sardesai, on the other hand, said the Marga Civic Alliance has brought about a revolution by showing there’s victory in unity, adding “this revolution needs to be taken forward to defeat the anti-Goa government and bring a Goemkarwadi government in power. We have taken inspiration from Dr Lohia who had given a call to the people from this very place to liberate the state from foreign rule”.

Saying that what happens in Margao and Salcete turns into a revolution, Sardesai exuded confidence that this manifestation of unity under Team Goa banner will happen across the state.

When the media drew his attention to the fact that he and Kamat had given similar promise to unitedly work against the BJP, but the alliance collapsed midway through the term, Sardesai shot back “Even then, we did not cede power to the BJP. We ran the show for the full terms.

The duo along with Lyndon and Deepali reviewed the progress of the Lohia Maidan beautification project with the contractor, with Sardesai suggesting to include a jogging park on the periphery of the maidan. “This work was tendered in 2019 when I was a minister. It took two years for the government to give expenditure sanction. I hope the project should see light of the day by Goa Liberation Day on December 19 this year”, Sardesai added.
