With the multi-level parking facility at the Margao old fish market yet to see the light of day, citizens have decided to hold a protest on Monday by holding a mock inauguration ceremony.
It was on September 15 four years ago that the foundation stone for the much-needed multi-level parking facility was laid with much fanfare.
Former MMC Chairperson Savio Coutinho, however, said it is very sad for Madgaonkars that till today the ‘spades and pickaxes have not reached
the site’ to commence the work.
“Every passing month, during the last four years we have only been hearing tall announcements over commencement of works,” he said, adding that “a Monday has been deliberately chosen for of holding a mock inauguration ceremony as we hope that Lord Damodar enlightens this council with positive ideas so as to set the ball rolling for the commencement and completion of the multi-level parking facility.”
The mock inauguration ceremony will be held at 12 noon on Monday at the Old Fish Market, behind Margao Municipal Council Building.
All Madgaonkars have been requested to attend the mock inauguration ceremony and show solidarity towards the need for the multi-level parking facility.
