Within 24 hours, the Karnataka excise officials detained yet another truck illegally transporting IMFL liquor from Goa at the Majali check post along the Goa-Karnataka border on Thursday night.
The detained truck, loaded with sanitary ware items, was headed to Bangalore but the Karnataka excise officers found 105 IMFL bottles of whiskey and brandy concealed amid the sanitary ware (washbasins, commodes, etc) consignment.
The liquor bottles and packaged cashew feni were discovered after the truck was stopped for a routine check-up at the checkpost at 8 pm.
The 83 litres of liquor is valued at Rs 98,000 in Karnataka, informed an official of the Karnataka excise
department. The truck and the driver have been detained by authorities as they investigate the matter further.
Earlier, liquor bottles worth Rs 1 lakh were seized at the check post.
