Deplorable condition of transport in the State

Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho is sitting pretty it seems after having achieved his goal of getting around 3,000 taxi operators in Goa to fit digital meters on their taxis. He has turned a blind eye to the woes of the public, who still have to pay exorbitant taxi fares, as payment by meter is yet to be enforced and  followed by unscrupulous taxi drivers. People  are still wondering what has happened to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's assurances of bringing in app-based taxis in Goa  within 3 months.

Secondly, unlike in other States where auto rickshaws ply freely on the roads and are available to the public at any  time of the day or night and charged strictly by meter, rickshaws in Goa are difficult to get and beyond the means of the common man. Pink rickshaws are also nowhere to be seen.  What a shame. Ask  any visitor to the state who will swear that transport in Goa is his biggest bugbear, having to spend more than double  that of  his hotel bills. This is the pathetic state of transport in Goa which no govt has been able to solve. Any takers?
