The newly-formed Goa Prant of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are expecting a turnout of nearly 2000 at their maiden convention to he held at Cujira educational complex, Bambolim on Sunday.
The Prant is expected to work out a plan to strengthen their movement on the Medium of Instruction (MoI), ahead of the State Legislative Assembly polls 2017.
While 1,700 members have already confirmed their participation for the convention, the senior leaders of the Goa Prant are travelling across the State to reach out to more people to attend the convention.
Speaking to The Goan, RSS Goa Prant Sanghachalak Subhash Velingkar said, “The agenda of the convention would mainly focus on taking the work of the Sangh shakhas to the grass root level in 500 villages across the State. Efforts would also be made to involve maximum number of women in this social cause. Additionally, deliberations would also be held on how actively the RSS Goa Prant will have to get involved in the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch agitation.”
The convention would also focus on enrolling maximum number of people under the ‘Matrubhasha Rakshak Abhiyan’ programme. Once enrolled, the person will have to tie a band with ‘Matrubhasha Rakshak’ embossed on it.
“We are targeting at registering two lakh members through this abhiyan. And we have to cover the major part of the Matrybhasha Rakshak Abhiyan during this one and a half month”, informed Velingkar adding that the concluding session of the convention will deliberate on the direction in which they will move forward.
The senior leaders of the Goa Prant have had meetings at various parts of the State to gather momentum. The maximum number of people expected to attend the convention are from Mandrem, Mayem, Sankhali, Canacona and Shiroda constituency.
