The gram sabha of Majorda village panchayat on Sunday opposed the Block Development Officer’s proposal to declare the village under the model category.
The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Linet Vaz saw the members raising questions about whether all the requirements qualifying for the model village are complied with or not.
After much discussion, it was decided to keep the proposal on hold, with sources saying the panchayat will first ascertain through the panchayat members the ground reality. The issue of stray dogs also figured at the gram sabha with members demanding action. It was resolved that the panchayat would write to the Department of Animal Husbandry on the issue.
The budget and audit report were placed and discussed at the meeting.
