Malbhat market shop owners want action against builder for blocking passages

MARGAO
A delegation of shop owners from a market complex at Malbhat called on the Margao Municipal Chief Officer demanding immediate action against the builder for allegedly blocking passages in the complex.

Led by Rajendra Ajgaonkar and Mohammed Pandiyal, the delegation gave the Chief Officer time of two days to act against the illegalities or threatened to shut down the market complex.

The delegation pointed out that the shop owners in the market complex had been complaining to the MMC since the last two years against the builder, but in vain. “We have now told the Chief Officer to stop the ongoing work in the market complex within two days or face action from the shop owners,” Pandiyal said, while exuding confidence that the Chief Officer will do justice to the shop owners.

Chief Officer Agnelo later told the media that he has told the MMC technical section to inspect the market complex in question and find out whether any internal changes are being carried out in the building.

“Let the builder show if he has taken any permission to carry out the internal changes. Action will be initiated if it is found that the work is underway without permission,” the Chief Officer warned.
