West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee arrived in the State and was greeted with black flags by supporters of BJP and Hindu groups outside the Goa airport.
There was a huge police force deployed at the airport ahead of Mamata’s visit and her security personnel from Bengal were also stationed at the airport to avoid any untoward situation. Police teams were placed on both entry and exit points of the airport and only passengers were allowed to enter the airport on security grounds. TMC leaders were present with police escort to receive Mamata on her arrival at the airport.
TMC MP Derek O’Brien and Goan legislators Luizinho Faleiro and Prasad Gaonkar, former MLA Lavu Mamledar were among the leaders present to welcome Mamata.
While the WB CM did not make any statement to the media, she waved out to the people and left the airport.
However, some supporters of the BJP and Hindu outfits waved black flags, placards and chanted slogans as the motorcade left the airport.
Some even tried to block the motorcade with flags but the police force deployed outside the airport took control of the situation. Banerjee smiled and waved to the protestors as she moved out of the airport.
