Mamata to visit temples & meet people today

PANAJI
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, whose Trinamool Congress (TMC) has made a recent high-visibility entry in Goa’s election arena, arrived in Goa on Thursday and is slated to visit some better known temples and interact with sections of local civil society representatives on Friday.

An itinerary released by the party said Banerjee will visit the Mangueshi temple, Mahalsa Narayani temple at Mardol and the Tapobhoomi temple at Kundaim between 3.30 and 4.30 on Friday evening.

Earlier in the day, Banerjee will hold a meeting with the TMC’s Goa unit at the International Centre, Dona Paula where she is staying. She will also hold an interaction with members of the fishing community at Betim around noontime, the party said.

She is also scheduled to address a press conference on Friday afternoon.

Banerjee landed in Goa on her first visit after her party announced its decision to fight the 2022 Assembly polls and launched a high visibility foray capturing eyeballs with an intensive advertising blitz on billboards across Goa.

A couple of days ago, several of these billboards were vandalised by unknown culprits with black paint and in some cases torn and destroyed which the TMC blamed on the ruling BJP.

TMC’s Rajya Sabha member Derek O’Brien had said, it was an insult to the “only woman chief minister” of the country currently.
