The Bardez Mamlatdar team on Monday stopped the filling the agricultural land near the national highway at Gausawada-Mapusa and a JCB was also seized in the connection.
Directions were given to the police and North Goa Administrator of Comunidades to take action in the matter.
Acting on a complaint registered at the Mamlatdar’s office regarding filling of agricultural land on the highway, officials Shailesh Kothawale, Aparna Garudi and Satish Dhuri visited the spot at about 3.30 pm on Monday.
The officials noticed the site covered with cloth and JCB was filling the land and flattening it for construction.
The officials stopped the activity and summoned the Mapusa police. The JCB was later handed over to the police.
Mamlatdar Pravin Gawas later directed the Administrator of Comunidades and Mapusa Police Inspector to take appropriate action against those involved in the land-filling activity.
Incidentally, Mapusa Municipal Council Chief Officer Sitaram Sawal had ordered the MMC engineering department to submit a report within seven days regarding the land filling activity, but the report has not yet been submitted to the chief officer. However, the MMC reportedly issued an NOC for the electricity connection to the kiosk which was set up at the site.
