Our former Governor Satya Pal Malik was very concerned about the rampant corruption and bad governance in Goa. Infact he had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah giving those details of the omissions and commissions by the BJP government here. But instead of acting against the accused, the Governor was unceremoniously shunted out of Goa overnight . During my meetings with Governor Malik, I could sense how very disturbed and anguished he was at the way Goa was being mismanaged and looted. Governor Malik was so modest, practical and someone who believed in delivering good governance to the poorest of the poor.He was indeed a good listener with a very clear mind and believed in achieving results. The very knowledgeable and well experienced Governor Malik was a person with a mind of his own who would never sign at the dotted line. A rubber stamp Governor he definitely was not. In the recent decades Goa has seen some very outstanding Governors by way of Lt Gen JFR Jacob, Dr SS Sidhu, BV Wanchoo besides Malik.
