Over four months after he was last booked in the land fraud, one of the prime accused Vikrant Shetty was on Monday arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in yet another offense registered against him.
The Margao resident was the first arrest by the SIT that began the probe into multiple cases of illegal transfer of ownership and fraudulent sale of land last year. His earlier arrest on June 18, 2022, led to further arrests including former Bardez Mamlatdar, two staff from the Archives Department among many others.
In the latest First Information Report (FIR), Shetty is accused of forging documents of a property surveyed under survey No 426/15 of Village Panchayat of Anjuna and produced before the Civil Registrar cum Sub Registrar Mapusa to transfer the ownership rights.
The Complainant Justine Rafael Dsouza has alleged that Shetty, Luisa Maria Dais alias Luisa Fernandes alias Luisa Dais alias Luiza Fernandes, Caetano Fernandes alias Caetano Antonio Fernandes and Meena Naik criminally conspired to forge documents, produce it before authorities as genuine and illegally transferred ownership rights, SIT SP Nidhin Valsan said.
