MGP decides to back BBSM on MoI
Mamledar shares dais, Deepak seats in audience

Ponda MGP MLA Lavu Mamledar on Sunday stated that MGP has decided to back the movement of Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM), as there is a need of local languages to preserve the culture.
BBSM leader Subhash Velingkar has urged the MGP MLAs to discontinue the alliance with the BJP.
MG Party President Pandurang alias Deepak Dhavalikar and its general secretary Mamledar along with sarpanchas of various panchayats from MGP bastion constituencies attended the BBSM meeting at Farmagudi-Ponda.
MGP-backed ZP Chaitra Phadate, Bandora Sarpanch Nayan Naik, Kavale Sarpanch Rajesh Kavalekar, Subhash Velingkar, Arvind Bhatikar, educationist Pandurang Nadkarni, Adv Swati Kerkar, Anand Shirodkar, Ramdas Saraf, councillor Venkatesh Naik and others were present. About 4,000-odd people were present in two halls and in one pandal.
The BBSM leaders attacked the saffron party for giving grants to English medium primary schools. They said they will work against the BJP government at the upcoming 2017 assembly polls.
Speaking at the meeting, Mamledar said MGP has decided to back the movement knowing the importance. “We need local languages to preserve the culture. One who learns in mother tongue can excel well in his/her career,” stated Mamledar.
“I support fully this movement and I am of the opinion that the government should rollback its decision of giving aid to English primary school,” Mamledar said.
Subhash Velingkar termed the BJP government “backstabbers” and called for revenge at the upcoming Assembly polls. “Let us punish BJP and send them home. It has insulted our mother tongue and culture,” he said.
Velingkar while praising the MGP MLAs urged them to discontinue their alliance with the BJP.
In scathing attack on BJP leaders, Bhatikar said they are liars. “We don’t want silent support. Come and speak against the government. If government doesn’t bow to pressure, then resign as MLAs and ministers,” Bhatikar advised Union Minister Shripad Naik, Environment Minister Rajendra Arlekar and Deputy Speaker Vishnu Surya Wagh, who reportedly supported BBSM.
According to BBSM leaders, two lakh activists have registered for the protection of regional languages and they will be working against BJP.
Anand Shirodkar, Swati Kerkar, Subhash Desai and others attacked BJP government terming their policy over MOI was wrong. Adv Hrudhaynath Shirodkar compered the meeting.
