the goan I networkrMARGAOrrAccording to Margao town police, the incident occurred on Thursday evening when the suspect, along with another man, tried to encash a cheque of Rs 1.50 lakh at this private bank. As the amount sought to be encashed was sizeable, the private bank officials called up the concerned company on which the cheque was drawn to confirm the transaction before dispensing with the cash, police added.rAs the Ponda-based private company officials were about to arrive at the private bank at Arlem, the duo tried to flee from the spot. However, the suspect was caught by the bank staff while his accomplice managed to escape. rPolice said the company officials informed that two such other cheques of the company have also been encashed. rFurther investigations are in progress.
Man arrested trying to encash stolen cheque
The Maina-Curtorim police have arrested one Pramod, a resident of Fatorda, who is suspected to have indulged in allegedly trying to encash an allegedly stolen cheque at Arlem branch of a private bank.
