Man dies after being hit by train at Shantinagar

A 54-year-old man Antonio Gomes,  a resident of Sheldem, Tilamol in Quepem was killed after being allegedly hit by a train in Shantinagar. Vasco.

According to information from sources in the Vasco Railway police station, the incident came to light after some locals noticed a male body lying along the tracks under the Shantinagar- New Vaddem railway bridge on Sunday afternoon

The locals alerted the police who rushed to the site and while initially they could not get the deatails of the deceased, he was later identified as Antonio Gomes,  a resident of Sheldem, Tilamol in Quepem.

Sources added that the person had some years ago undergone a head surgery and had a weak memory increasing the likelihood of him being hit by a train  along the tracks as the body showed injuries on his legs and hands.

Railway police are carrying out further investigation.
