Causing another embarrassment for the BJP, Calangute BJP MLA and Minister Michael Lobo launched the election campaign of Congressman, Kedar Naik at Guirim on Sunday even as he urged people to elect good MLAs and back only one party that will protect the interest of Goans.

Lobo also informed that he will reveal his cards about his political future on Monday.

“The votes should not be split. Only one party should get a complete mandate. Give 22 seats to one party so that the next government can run effectively. Breaking of parties and robbing leaders should be stopped,” Lobo said.

The Calangute MLA who has been critical of the BJP in the last two months, created another flutter on Sunday morning when he came to launch the election campaign of his acolyte Kedar Naik in Saligao.

Naik, sarpanch of Reis Magos had quit the BJP and joined the Congress on Thursday last week.

Over 300 supporters accompanied the leaders as they began the door-to-door campaign in the Guirim, Saligao.

“The step we are taking today is in the interest of the people of Goa. People want good leaders. People will have to take a decision to elect good MLAs. We have to save Goa for the generation next,” Lobo said.

Aiming another jab at the saffron party, Lobo said the leaders of BJP had grown so tall and one had to crane their neck to face them.

“The party in which I am there now…the leaders of that party are become so tall that we have to raise our heads to see them. We must raise our heads only to God, not to leaders,” he said.

Lobo said that everyone will know about his next political move on Monday.

“You will get an answer tomorrow,” he said, when questioned whether he was likely to join Congress.

The Goan, on Sunday, had reported that the Calangute MLA was likely to resign from the BJP and join the Congress by Monday.
