Man impersonates IPS officer to seek favours at Siolim restaurant, FIR lodged

MAPUSA:

Anjuna Police have registered a case against an unidentified individual for impersonating a senior IPS officer and seeking undue favours from a popular Goan restaurant.

According to the complaint filed by Rahul Gupta, Assistant Director of the Enforcement Directorate, the incident occurred on September 2, 2024, at Thalassa restaurant in Siolim.

The accused, using the mobile number 9817434343, falsely identified himself as Abhishek Goyal, IPS, Special Director, and sought various favours from the restaurant staff.

The accused's fraudulent behaviour reportedly led to the staff of Thalassa being deceived. The case was registered on January 23 under Section 319(2) of the BNS Act.

Police Sub-Inspector Navneet Goltekar is leading the investigation, and further inquiries are underway.
