Man sentenced for assault
MARGAO: The Sessions Court sentenced a 42-year-old man to one year three months imprisonment after holding him guilty for injuring his own brother with a sharp weapon. He was convicted for offence committed under Section 324 of IPC.
The incident had occurred on May 1, 2015 when the convict, one Augustinho Colaco (42), a resident of Kothambi, had allegedly assaulted his brother Simon over some personal matter at a feast on that day. Yet another man was also injured in the attack when he had intervened to save the victim from the assault.
The assault had led to the collapse of the victim on the spot who was immediately rushed to the hospital by some cops on duty at the scene of the incident.
Arguing on behalf of the prosecution, Adv Subhash Desai had examined a total of eight witnesses, three of whom had witnessed the incident.
The period which the convict has already served in custody will be deducted from the point of sentence.
