In a swift police action, a 27-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder after he allegedly attacked another man with a sharp weapon near a restaurant at Poriem early on Saturday. Superintendent of Police (North) Rahul Gupta said the accused, Yogesh Subhash Rane from Deulwada in Bicholim, was arrested within 30 minutes of the attack. The victim, Aniket Singbal, also 27, suffered a serious head injury.
The incident took place around 2.20 am near the Goa Institute of Management campus when an argument over a parked vehicle turned into a fight. The victim, who is from Sankhalim, was badly injured and was immediately taken to CHC Sanquelim for treatment.
