PORVORIM
Two riders were killed while a taxi driver sustained minor injuries when a motorcycle and a tourist taxi collided with each other on the new Mandovi bridge in the wee hours of Monday.
According to Porvorim police, the incident took place at about 3.20 am as Kushagra Patale (21) from Vikhroli-Mumbai was proceeding from Mapusa to Porvorim on his motorcycle along with his friend Yash Malik (20) from Rohtak-Haryana.
The tourist taxi was proceeding from Panaji towards Mapusa.
Both the riders sustained grievous injuries in the mishap and were moved to GMC, but both succumbed to injuries.
The deceased were students at a law college in Sancoale, Mormugao.
The taxi driver, Rajkumar Kattimani, who suffered minor injuries in the mishap is undergoing treatment at GMC hospital.
After a post-mortem examination, the bodies were handed over to the two families.
