Mandrem college row: Cong leaders for grants

The supporters of Mandrem College on the second day of the dharna held at Azad Maidan, got a boost when Dr Chellakumar, AICC general secretary and GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro met them and extended full support.

Girish Chodankar, Calangute deputy sarpanch Joseph Sequira, former MLA Pratap Gauns, Adv Yatish Naik and other office bearers of supporting parties also called on the agitators who were on Tuesday led by Babi Bagkar and former MLA Dayanand Sopte.

Speaking on the occasion, Luizinho Faleiro condemned the discriminatory unjust action of the State government and demanded that the Parsekar government release grants and aid forthwith to the college. He also warned the Parsekar government that if the approval granted to Mandrem college is not reinstated and rest of the faculties like BA, BSc, BBA travel and tourism are not released forthwith, the Congress party will join the agitation with full force and push the government to their knees till the demands are met.

The other leaders who spoke on the occasion included Babi Bagkar, Girish Chodankar, Sopte, Vaman Chodankar and others.
