A 45-year-old unknown person, who climbed a mango tree to pluck raw mangoes, had a fatal fall at Borda on Saturday morning.

The unknown person was declared brought dead at the South Goa district hospital. Locals had seen the man climbing the mango tree to pluck mangoes. This was evident by the fact that raw mangoes were found on the ground.

Sources said the man was lying on the ground when the owners, an elderly couple came out of the house at around 10 am. They also found raw mango lying on the ground, indicating that the man had climbed the tree earlier to pluck mangoes.

Margao Municipal councillor Ravindra Naik told the media that he received a call at around 10.15 am on Saturday informing that a person had come crashing down from a mango tree.

“Workers working at an adjacent area had seen the person climbing the mango tree. The man is believed to have slipped and fell down,” he added.
