Manipal Hospital facilitates 2nd cadaveric organ donation

PANAJI: Manipal Hospital has successfully facilitated its second cadaveric organ donation. This milestone comes after a tragic but noble decision by the family of Mr. Ajay Giri, a 48-year-old employee of Manipal Hospital Goa since 2014. Mr. Giri was declared brain dead following a critical medical condition, and his family made the compassionate choice to donate his organs, offering a second chance at life for multiple patients in need.

The hospital’s medical team carried out thorough evaluations and coordinated closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the safe and timely harvesting and transplantation of Mr. Giri’s organs. One of the kidneys was donated to Goa Medical College, while the other was sent to Healthway Hospital. Additionally, the liver was transported to Vishesh Jupiter Hospital in Indore for transplantation to a patient in need. These organs were successfully transplanted, offering life-saving opportunities to those in need.

This selfless act by Mr. Giri’s family has made an immeasurable impact, underscoring the vital role of organ donation in saving lives and improving the quality of life for many individuals. The decision reflects immense compassion and generosity, which will resonate with both the medical community and the public.

Organ donation continues to be a critical component of healthcare, and Manipal Hospital Goa remains steadfast in its mission to encourage more individuals and families to consider this life-changing choice. The hospital expresses its heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Giri’s family for their selfless act and stands as a beacon for others to follow in their footsteps.

Through continued education, partnerships with medical institutions, and compassionate leadership, Manipal Hospital Goa is proud to lead the charge in organ donation advocacy and contribute to a healthier, more compassionate society.
