PANAJI
Manipal Hospitals, one of India’s leading healthcare providers, has joined hands with Google Cloud to improve digital healthcare using artificial intelligence (AI) and secure cloud technology. With support from Deloitte, the hospital is now using AI tools to improve efficiency in pharmacy services and nurse handovers.
Thanks to this partnership, Manipal Hospitals has cut ePharmacy order times from 15 minutes to under 5 and reduced nurse handovers from 90 minutes to just 20. This saves a lot of time for medical staff, helping them focus more on patient care.
ePharmacy Improvements
Built fully on Google Cloud, Manipal’s ePharmacy platform uses AI to speed up prescription processing and reduce errors. Gemini on Vertex AI helps with accurate drug information and data sharing between departments. Real-time updates using Google’s Healthcare API ensure patients receive information quickly after consultations. With Looker, the hospital also monitors user behaviour to improve ordering, delivery, and user experience. The system is built to scale using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), even during peak hours.
Over 1 lakh patients now use this platform for medication needs. It processes more than 60,000 entries daily, offering doctors valuable insights into treatment trends.
AI-Driven Nurse Handovers
The hospital’s AI-powered nurse handoff system improves communication and care. Nurses can instantly access patient information through a shared data cloud, reducing mistakes and ensuring smooth transitions. Automated workflows help lower human error and boost clinical outcomes.
Leaders from Manipal Hospitals and Google Cloud say this partnership is a big step towards making healthcare faster, safer, and more accessible across India.
