If this happens Goa will be able to buy locally generated power at lesser rate.”r“Central government, which is promoting solar power generation, has given us year-wise target to generate 150 MW of solar power by 2022,” said Madkaikar who informed that the State Government has kept the Draft Solar Policy 2017 open for suggestions and recommendations till July 14. rThe Draft Solar Policy 2017was earlier kept open for suggestions in March this year. rHowever, the State Government redrafted the policy with a few changes and re-opened for suggestions and recommendations. r“After the policy was opened earlier, we received many suggestions from various sections which were not incorporated in the draft. So we redrafted it and re-opened it for suggestions. The main issue for those interested in setting up plants was the availability of land. We cannot provide them the land, which has major cost involved. So now they have to have the land to ste up the plant. That is our policy,” he said.
