Mapusa accident car driver was drunk

Mapusa Police on Friday confirmed that the car driver involved in the Mapusa accident that claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman from Cansa-Tivim, was drunk and was driving without a commercial driver's badge from the Transport department.
According to Mapusa Police, the accused driver, Chandrakant Malgoankar, was sent for a medical checkup at District Hospital Mapusa, shortly after the mishap.
“On Friday, the report of the examination confirmed that the driver was drunk. The accused does not have the transport department badge, which is compulsory for tourist taxi drivers,” informed Mapusa PI Tushar Lotlikar.
The police have registered an offence against the accused under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
It may be recalled that on Wednesday, the car had knocked down the stationary scooter near the KTC bus stand at Mapusa, killing Angana Naik from Cansa-Tivim and seriously injuring her brother Anuj, who fractured his leg in the accident.
