Throwing open this section Victor says, "I dedicate this museum to Jashwanth Singh, fondly referred to as chacha by us.” Chacha played the role of a great custodian of our heritage. Last year on January 23, Chacha passed away and Goa Cruti is a small dedication to all of Chacha’s selfless efforts.

Adhering to his promise of setting up a museum zone showcasing the various aspects of the fast fading rich culture of Goa, Victor Hugo Gomes, opens his new museum, Goa Cruti Museum- Showcasing the colonial past of Goa. The museum will be thrown open for previews on the January 23, at 5 pm.

The museum is nestled in 500 sq mts building within the premises of the Goa Chitra complex. This collection of artifacts depicts the colonial influences of Goa. The collection of Goa Cruti is precise and definite, and dates back to the 16th century influences, where travellers travelled to Goa to work and live, and Goans who travelled abroad, created a new identity to the culture, while still retaining the ethos of the land. Goa Cruti is all set to impress the standards of Indian museums, allowing the viewer an insight of what differentiates Goa from the rest of India. A section of Goa Cruti displays colonial furniture which range from simple patterns of the low middle class to the exotic design of the upper middle class aristocracy. There are almirahs, chairs, corner chair, kissing chairs, side boards, tables, chests, crockery and cutlery from the 18th and 19th century, ceramics, glassware, silverware, brassware and a variety of household goods The highlights include blue and white crockery. There is also needle crafts, garments and jewelry, costumes and jewelry of the Gawda community, walking sticks, western musical instruments and games and coin collections. A section is also dedicated to jury or legal history and medical history of Goa.
