Having given her consent letter, a Mapusa-based farmer now wants to cancel her agreement for her land which is to be used for the Mapusa Downtown Scheme.
Addressing a news conference organised by Bodgeshwar Shetkari Sangh (BSS) at Mapusa on Monday, Nila Parsekar accused the Bodgeshwar Temple Committee (BTC) of digging a well in her field without her NOC and asked the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) to act in the matter. “I have filed a complaint with MMC, with copies forwarded to BTC, Mapusa police station and Bodgeshwar Shetkari Sangh,” she added.
“My field is to be used as part of the Mapusa Downtown Scheme and I was duped into giving my consent letter after an assurance that I would be provided with a flat and some money in exchange of my 4,400 square metres of land,” claimed Parsekar.
“Now, I am not ready to give my land for this scheme and the government should withdraw my consent letter,” said Parsekar.
BSS member Mahesh Barde alleged that fields in Mapusa were illegally being converted into settlement zones.
“Parsekar’s land has been bought at a very low rate as compared to market rates after she was duped for the Mapusa Downtown Scheme. The consent letter obtained from other farmers should be withdrawn,” demanded Barde.
Meanwhile, BTC President Anand Bhaidkar refuted the allegations and said the money had been given to a relative of Parsekar, who is caretaker of the land used in the construction of a well.
“As Parsekar had not received her share of money, she had visited the temple committee. She did not have any objection to construct a well in her field at the time.”
