A native of Odisha was arrested for illegal possession of drugs and ganja worth Rs 3 lakh was seized from him, Mapusa Police said on Tuesday.
The accused was temporarily residing in Parra near Mapusa.
Acting on specific information regarding illegal drug activities being carried out in Parra, a police team led Mapusa PI Tushar Lotlikar conducted a raid and apprehended one Biyanti Ganthiratna Mali (29), resident of Odisha but residing in Parra.
During the search ganja weighing 3.010 kgs worth Rs 3 lakh was seized from the accused who was taken into custody after conducting the panchanama.
An offence under section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act has been registered at Mapusa Police station and the accused has been placed under arrest.
The raiding team consisted of PI Tushar Lotliker, PSI Gaurav Naik and Vibha Volvoiker, HC, Sushant Chodpekar and PCs Prakash Polekar, Abhishek Kasar, Rajesh Kanolkar and Akshay Patil.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Gajanand Prabhudessai and SP North Shobit Saxena (IPS).
