ll six panchayats in Marcaim constituency have announce a seven-day lockdown.
Speaking to reporters in the presence of sarpanchas of Kavlem, Bandora, Kundaim, Wadi-Talauli, Marcaim and Adpai-Agapur, Marcaim MLA and MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar said all 6 panchayats would enforce a 7-day lockdown from Thursday.
While appealing to the government to declare a state-wide lockdown, Dhavalikar said: "The second wave of Covid has taken many lives. I had repeated requested the government for a lockdown, but the government didn't listen to us.”
“The six panchayats in my constituency have decided to enforce a self-imposed lockdown for seven days and locals have also supported our decision,” said Dhavalikar.
Ponda municipality
enforces lockdown
PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) enforced a lockdown from Wednesday till Sunday.
The PMC and Ponda Business Association had jointly requested traders to cooperate with the lockdown.
The Ponda police drove away some fish and fruit vendors and only permitted essential shops, pharmacies and petrol pumps to remain open.
