MARGAO
There’s finally a ray of hope that the health and medical services will finally return back at the heritage Margao Urban Health Centre around February-end.
For, repair work on the building, which had been dragging on since July 8, 2023, has resumed again.
A visit to the health centre building has revealed that the blue coloured tarpaulin sheets have disappeared from the Margao Urban Health Centre, indicating that the repair work has resumed again.
In fact, workers engaged by the contractor were on the job to remove the centering plates from the structure to give the finishing touches to the repair work.
A representative of the contractor informed that it would take around 20 days more to complete the repair work, before the premises is handed back over to the health services.
Margao Urban Health Centre Dr Sucorro Quadros, who was at the Health centre, has informed that he has initiated painting work of the health centre before the health services return back at the building.
The old drinking water well is also being repaired at the initiative of Dr Quadros. A water pump is being installed which will facilitate pumping of water to meet the water requirements for gardening and cleaning work.
Services of the Margao Urban Health Centre were shifted to the Old Hospicio building after the façade of the building came crashing down on July 8, 2023. Since then, the services were twice shifted first to Old Heritage Hospicio structure, before the OPD were shifted to the South district hospital.
Presently, while the OPD is functioning from the district hospital, the administration is operating from the Old Hospicio building. It was only after the intervention of Minister, Aleixo Sequeira that the repair work on the health centre building has resumed again.
