MARGAO
The Global Romi Lipi Abhiyan (GRLA) has condemned the decision of the government to hold a short two-day winter Assembly session from February 6.
Terming it as a total mockery of the democratic process, president Kennedy Afonso said it’s better to cancel the same as it serves no significant purpose. “The first day of the Assembly will go for the Governors address and the second for supplementary demands, with no time for the Opposition to discuss contentious issues of Goa,” he said.
Saying that Goa and Goans are facing a lot of pressing issues such as the land grab, Romi script, which need serious discussions in the Assembly, he said the people of Goa were eagerly waiting for issue of Amendment to the Official Language Act, by introducing the two Bills in the Assembly, namely to give equal status for Roman script in the official language Act, and to introduce Roman Script Konknni into schools in a phased manner.
